"August 29, was the grand finale of the 2015 World Sango festival, and it took place in the town of Oyo, Oyo state, Nigeria. The event was full of spark, magic and acrobatic display by Sango followers from other States and towns as they paid homage to the Alaafin of Oyo. They came from such Nigerian locales as: Oyo, Kabba, Osogbo, Ede, Ibadan, Ilorin, Saki, Owo, Igbope, Akure, Ede, Offa, Igboho, Lokoja, Igbo Ora, Ayete, Lagos, Igarra, Ado Ekiti, Iseyin, Ogbomoso, Ijebu Ode, Saki, Ondo, Abeokuta,Etc and beyond. The Sango festival is the most significant and ancient festival in Oyo, since it is deeply linked to the survival of identity, culture and history of the people. It celebrates the spiritual connection between Sango and the Alaafin. Oyo city was the capital of an empire that dominated a large portion of southwestern Nigeria and further west into Benin and Togo, until it's boundary at the lands of the Akan tribes.. And Shango or Jakuta is a God of Thunder, lightening, fire and Swift Justice who manifests as a warrior-king always wielding a double-edged axe which conveys his Ashe or divine authority & power."
